Stone’s Gender Neutral Grey and Yellow Nursery Revealed

I am so excited to share baby “Stone’s” gender neutral grey and yellow nursery with you today!

Seriously?! How beautiful is this space?!

I am truly so so lucky to have a friend who allows me to send her umpteen pictures of things I think she needs, pick up yellow pedestal tables cities away and trusts my “vision”, entertains my idea for a DIY spoon mirror and most importantly lets me photograph this very special space and plaster it all over the internet!

The “theme” in this room is elephants.  The accents are subtle but as you can see my love of ceramic animals has already found it’s way into baby “Stone’s” nursery {thank goodness for friends with similar taste and babies who don’t get a say}

The mama-to-be knew she wanted a gallery wall and I love love love how it turned out.  That amazing “W” is an easy find and the frames a combination of Ikea and Homesense.

I am proud to say that my DIY habits seem to have rubbed off as the mama-to-be whipped up this print on her own. I just love DIY and the $$ it saves!

The glider was a find many-many months ago at a Homesense out of town.  Sadly we were travelling in a small car that day so she had to make the 45minute trek back the following day to pick it up.  It is probably the most comfortable piece of furniture I have ever rested my tush in!  Mama & Daddy are going to enjoy some amazing moments in that glider!

Baby “Stone” is lucky to have a very talented Grandma who whipped up so many amazing things for this sweet baby, that afghan on the back of the chair is just one of her many beautiful creations!! I am enlisting her for all future baby shower gifts!!!

The knit pouf ottoman is from Urban Barn and really does a great job pulling together the “natural” elements in the room!

How adorable is this elephant head {ceramic taxidermy is my favourite}!!!!!!

“W” is the first letter of their last name so when I saw this fantastic basket at Homesense for under $20, you can bet I was taking pictures to send to momma-to-be who was there that afternoon to scoop it up! It will be great to collect baby’s toys!!!

The infamous spoon mirror almost didn’t make the cut, but I think it adds just the right pop for that wall!

When I spotted this yellow pedestal table while I was 2 hours away, I knew that it may just have to make the trip back to Peterborough.  Lucky for me my awesome friend saw what I saw and thought it would be great for the space.  I just adore the pop of colour it adds and it will transition well as baby grows up!!

See those adorable knit booties?! Knit with love by baby’s amazing grandma, I am still hoping she will make a few grown up sized pairs!  The elephant bookends were a find at the same time as the yellow pedestal table {I really need to stop shopping for others, I am so lucky she lets me}!

How much do you love those quatrefoil sheers?  Under $20 for two panels at Homesense on clearance, what a find!!!!

After a little bit of a lamp mishap, a thrifted find stepped in as a replacement and with a coat of spray paint I think it looks just as good as its $50 brother {may it rest in peace}

There is nothing I love more than finding a great piece at Homesense for a great deal and then seeing it in a design magazine or high end home store only days later!  This hamper was one of this things and I just love how it ties in with the natural elements of the room.

The super plush shag carpet is going to be one of baby’s favourite spots.  It has already proven to be canine big brother Jack’s favourite place in the nursery as well!

The ikea dresser offers a great amount of space to hold all baby’s things and will continue to grow with baby for years to come!

It is truly a beautiful and calming space fit for the little prince or princess who will be arriving any day now!!

Yellow and Grey Gender Neutral Baby Shower

When it came to baby “Stone’s” shower, it only made sense to transfer the grey and yellow theme from the nursery to the shower.  I was happy to assist the mama-to-be’s sister in planning and prepping and DIYing in preparation for the surprise shower! It was so much fun combining the modern and natural elements to create what I believe was a pretty chic event!

Rustic All Season Centrepiece

I am in full fledge Christmas mode.  I have been since just after Remembrance Day.  For some reason I am so excited for Christmas this year.  Last year was our first Christmas in our house and we hosted both our families here.  We will be doing the same thing again this year and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I had most of our Christmas decorations up early but had no idea what to do for our table centrepiece.  I love Christmas but I like to keep the seasonal decor to a minimum so that we aren’t left with bins upon bins of decor that needs to be stored for 10+ months out of the year.  When it came to our centrepiece I really wanted something impactful for the holidays but that could also transition through all four seasons {or at least 2 or 3}.

I stumbled upon the Lemonade Making Momma’s post sharing her Thanksgiving decor and that is when I saw it and knew I had to have it.  I showed my darling hubby the pictures and then convinced him to accompany me to Home Depot to collect the supplies to DIY one of these bad boys.  After some back and forth in the lumber aisles my vision finally came together in his head and we were off to the races.  He banged out this project for me in under an hour last weekend and I am so totally in love {with him and the centre piece}!

As you can see we are not exactly master carpenters but, we were going for the rustic look so the “rough” look is totally okay with us!

To create our Rustic All Season Centrepiece we picked up one 6 x 1 x 8 {or those numbers in some other order} and one 3 x 1 x 8 in knotty pine.  I decided I wanted the centrepiece to be 4ft long and Patrick got to cutting all the pieces.  Not without a little supervision from our resident foreman….

We put everything together with some framing nails that were chosen for ecstatic reasons only and once we had it all pieced together, I used some acrylic craft paint to give it the white washed finish.
